A walk in the park

After stuffing ourselves with a big dinner, we decided to walk it off by paying a visit to Hort Park.  The weather was perfect, breezy and overcast. It’s a shame that none of us had our cameras. *The picture below was taken off the net.

It was a first time for all of us, except my brother who was the one who suggested the place. The children had a fun time running around the lawn , Max was very intrigued by the family attempting to fly their kite. This time round, he didn’t seem too bothered by the grass either. The kids would have been happy just to stay at the lawn area, but we wanted to see what the rest of the park had to offer.

The park had lovely landscaping, some water features here and there and even a small butterfly area. Of course the highlight for the kids was the playground. Now that Max is walking, playgrounds have taken on a whole new meaning for him. He loves to slide, it’s really cute watching him giggle as he comes down.

We finally had to pry the children away from the playground to finish walking the rest of the park. It was getting dark but since we were in the area, my brother suggested checking out Henderson Waves. Each time we are driving home from Vivo, the bridge always catches our attention and we were eager to check it out despite being warned of the steep climb to the bridge.

Ally was a real trooper, she had been running around in Hort Park and we were pretty sure that she’ll tire out halfway up the slope. She proved us wrong and still had the energy to talk the entire walk up. Matt and I took turns carrying the Pork Chop which was no mean feat.

The bridge itself was amazing, the added wind was refreshing. There was lots of people just hanging out, enjoying the view and snapping photographs. We took a slow walk to about the 3/4 mark and then decided to head home since it was getting late.

All the walking made me feel a bit less guilty about the big dinner I just had. The next time we head back to the park, we will definitely bring the camera along, words just don’t do the beauty of the park enough justice.

Wowee… We’ve only gone to Hort Park once, but it was to attend a 1st month celebration, so we only saw 0.05% of the park (ie. the function room!). After reading this post, its gonna be one of the must go places next time! 🙂

  2. Yes definitely worth a visit. Don’t forget your camera, it’s a real shame we didn’t have ours that day.
